# 6 Essential Modes of Asexual Reproduction for NEET 2025 | Complete Guide with Examples

## Modes of Aexual Reproduction in Organisms

Asexual reproduction is a biological process by which organisms produce genetically identical offspring without the fusion of gametes.

---

## 1. Fission / Cell Division

An organism splits its cellular body to form new individual organisms.

- Binary Fission: The parent cell divides into two equal halves.
- Multiple Fission: The parent cell divides into many daughter cells simultaneously.

## 2. Fragmentation

The body of a multicellular organism breaks into distinct fragments, each of which subsequently grows into a complete new organism.

- Example: Spirogyra

## 3. Regeneration

The ability of an organism to regrow lost or damaged body parts, or to develop an entirely new organism from a severed segment.

- Example: Hydra, Planaria

## 4. Budding

A small projection or "bud" develops on the parent body, matures, and eventually detaches to form a new individual.

- Example: Hydra, Yeast

## 5. Vegetative Propagation

The process of plant reproduction utilizing vegetative parts such as roots, stems, or leaves, without the production of seeds or spores.

- From Stems/Cuttings: Sugarcane, Roses, Grapes, Jasmine
- From Leaves (Adventitious buds): Bryophyllum

## 6. Spore Formation

The parent plant produces microscopic, tough, reproductive units called spores within sporangia. When released, they germinate into new individuals under favorable conditions.

- Example: Rhizopus (Bread Mold)
